How To Set Up An Instagram Business Account
In this post, you will learn how to set up an Instagram Business Account.
What is an Instagram Business Account?
An Instagram business account is an Instagram account designed specifically for businesses.
So, if you’re using Instagram for your business, you should have an Instagram business account.
Benefits of having an Instagram Business Account
It gives you insight into who your followers are such as their gender, age, where they live, etc. This helps you tailor your content and voice to speak directly to them.
This allows you to track engagement on your Instagram page. It lets you see what’s working, and what’s not. This allows you to make smart business decisions based on facts.
With an Instagram business account, you are able to run ads on Instagram and actually promote your posts to reach a wider audience.
Potential customers can contact you:
It allows potential customers to contact you directly from inside the app. There are various options available such as via text, call, email or store visit.

How To Make The Switch
You’re in one of 2 places right now:
- You have a personal Instagram profile you have been using and you want to make the switch to a business profile
- You don’t have an Instagram account but want to set one up for your business.
I’m going to walk you through how to do each.
If You Don’t Have An Instagram Account
The first step is to create one. You can do this either on a desktop or on your mobile phone.
Step1: Go to Instagram.com
Step 2: Click “Sign Up” to create a new account
Step 3: Login with Facebook OR enter your details and click “Sign Up”
And that’s it. You’re done.
Now that we all have A Personal Instagram Profile, let’s see how to switch it to a business account
Step 1: Go to options, as shown in the image below.
Scroll down and select “Switch to Business Profile”
Step 2: Click “Continue” on the welcome screen
it’ll take you through a few pages outlining the benefits of a business profile on Instagram.
Step 3: Connect Your Facebook Page
Instagram is linked to the parent company, Facebook.
In order to get all the benefits of an Instagram Business Account, you’ll need to connect to your Facebook page.
If you don’t already have a Facebook page, you’ll have the option to create one.

If you already have a Facebook Page for your business, it’ll show up on a list, and you can select the specific page tied to your Instagram account.
Then, you click Next
Step 4: Set up Your Business Profile
You’ll need to put in your information or edit the information pulled from your Facebook page.
You need to enter at least one way to contact you to complete the switch.
And that is it.
You should see a welcome screen like this:
